Weekend Footy - Saints/Dogs Shootout. Dees + Rye.
0 Comments Published 2 years, 2 months ago in Sport & Leisure. Its that time of the week again after a crazy busy week - I’m listening to the afl.com.au audio for Dogs vs Saints and 2nd qtr it’s a shootout. Top 4 up for grabs this weekend. Tomorrow I’m off to first final for The Mornington Peninsula Football League, at Rosebud, where they have amazing home made hamburgers. The Dees are playing Geelong on their turf which should be a ripper.
Montalto Vineyard & Olive Grove
This place has the best door to enter through, killer views, great food, and its just a great vibe. Organising a picnic here is the secret order of the menu. Montalto is hard to beat.
See the picture - imagine walking for 5 minutes through the winery to your own private oasis, as staff dressed in black tshirts get on a 4 wheel powered buggy with the wine you have just chosen, along with fresh trout, smoked chicken, amazing berries and on and on - where u end up in a private secluded area - with your own pond, blanket, even mosquito repellant - totally amazing) You will be blown away.
Their Olive Festival gets thousands to it now. Montalto is very hard to beat. My long term favourite. (along with Cicciolina in St Kilda and pre-Montalto I loved Red Hill Estate next door which even better views, great seafood and awesome outdoor dining)

We’d like that 3rd spot now that Franky’s Saints choked against a tough Fremantle outfit with Jeff Farmer kicking four goals in first quarter. I’ll be there…

L’Aperitivo Fine Italian Cafe
L’aperitivo in Glenhuntly Road is always busy with the grown out of St Kilda, multicultural crowd, trying to make Elsternwick kewl, as impossible as that is. One time I had a coffee here I waited hours for service, and even more time for the coffee, which I needed to reorder. Havent been back.
My choice of coffee in area is “Gunthers” opposite elsternwick station and the Classic Cinema, these guys make a great latte in the morning to get you going.

If you read the front page of most newspapers this week you heard about the secret MySpace induced Jet gig. Did anyone go ? The Popalastic Melbourne Blog had the juice on the gig :
- There was a big queue.
- Despite being internet users, they appeared not to be virgins.
- Jet were loud.
- They did their new songs first.
- The new single sounded very good.
- Jet fans have very big hair.
- Which made it hard to see.
- They did their old songs last.
- Which still sound the same.
